Aidan McKeon
Philly-to-Juilliard Reedist
A multi-reedist bridging Philadelphia's jazz legacy and New York's cutting edge, performing globally with jazz's finest.
About
Aidan McKeon is a saxophonist, composer/arranger, woodwind specialist, and educator from Sicklerville, NJ, who came up through the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz before studying at the Juilliard School. He has performed with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Peter Bernstein, Ari Hoenig, and the Roy Hargrove Big Band at venues including the Village Vanguard, Smalls Jazz Club, and internationally in Bern and Tokyo. A leader of his own trio and quartet, he channels the legacies of Dexter Gordon, Wayne Shorter, and John Coltrane while forging his own compositional voice.
Music Style
McKeon's playing reflects deep reverence for hard bop and post-bop tradition — drawing on Dexter Gordon, Coltrane, and Wayne Shorter — while embracing genre-breaking innovation and original composition across small groups and big band settings.
