Alex 'Apolo' Ayala is a New York-based bassist from San Juan. A graduate of the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, he debuted as a leader with the acclaimed 2022 album 'Bámbula.' His project '2nd Language' celebrates the fusion of his Afro-Puerto Rican roots with modern bebop and swing.
