About
Andrew Kushnir is a jazz drummer originally from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, who first gained attention at age 17 performing with the Franco Proietti Morph-Tet. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Performance from Berklee College of Music (2015) and a Master of Music in Jazz Performance from NYU Steinhardt (2017). Based in Brooklyn, he co-leads the group Straight Up!, hosts regular jam sessions around NYC, and performs widely as both leader and sideman.

His musical approach combines contemporary jazz elements with strong melodic improvisation, sophisticated harmonic structures, and a foundation in post-bop traditions.
