Aruán Ortiz is a Cuban-born pianist, violist, and composer based in Brooklyn who has been an active figure in the progressive jazz and avant-garde scene for over 15 years. Named one of the most creative and original composers in the world, he has written for jazz ensembles, orchestras, dance companies, and films. Recent honors include the 2025 Goddard Lieberson Fellowship, 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship, and 2024 Hermitage Fellowship.
