About
Chris Beck is a Philadelphia-born jazz drummer and composer who, after earning his Bachelor of Music from Temple University, became a first-call drummer in Philly. He later moved to New York, earned a Master’s in Music from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts (studying under Victor Lewis), and released his debut album The Journey in 2018. Known for working with major names such as Cyrus Chestnut, Mulgrew Miller, Wynton Marsalis, and Nicholas Payton, Beck has established himself as a significant voice in contemporary straight-ahead jazz.
Music Style
His style blends classic straight-ahead jazz with elements of gospel and his African heritage, delivering powerful grooves with emotional depth. His drumming is precise yet expressive, placing musicality over mere technical display.
