Born in Havana and trained at Cuba's National School of the Arts, Dennis Hernández is a premier trumpeter known for his sharp Afro-Cuban phrasing. After establishing his career in Spain, he moved to New York City, where he became a key collaborator for Richard Bona and Ralph Irizarry. He currently leads Conjunto Amalia, dedicated to the golden era of Cuban conjunto music.
