About
Elijah J. Thomas is a Philadelphia-born, Harlem-based flutist, multi-instrumentalist, educator, producer, experimental composer, and creative visionary. He earned a B.M. in Jazz Arranging & Composition and concentration in flute and single reed instruments, and an M.M. in Music Education, both from Temple University’s Esther Boyer College of Music & Dance. He has taught extensively in both Philadelphia and New York, commissioned works such as ‘‘For Harlem’’ with MATA, and leads projects rooted in music as Black healing, community, and spiritual transcendence.

Thomas’s music blends flute-led improvisation, electronics, and composition in fluid forms that emphasize Black spiritual practice and community consciousness. His sound is both intimate and expansive, combining woodwinds with ambient textures, vocal elements, and live ensemble interplay.
