Fred Hersch is an American jazz pianist, composer, educator, and 17-time Grammy nominee. He graduated from the New England Conservatory, has been a major influence since the late 1970s, and wrote the memoir Good Things Happen Slowly. He was the first to present weeklong solo piano residencies at New York’s Village Vanguard.
