Harvie S (born Harvie Swartz, December 6, 1948) is an American jazz double-bassist known for his distinctive style and extensive career. He began as a pianist, switching to bass at age 18, and established himself in the Boston jazz scene before moving to New York in 1972. A professor at Manhattan School of Music since 1984, he has recorded with jazz legends and released numerous albums as leader and co-leader.
