John Patitucci is an American jazz bassist and composer born in Brooklyn, New York in 1959. He rose to prominence through his work with Chick Corea's Elektric Band and Akoustic Band from the mid-1980s onward, and has been a cornerstone of Wayne Shorter's quartet for over two decades. A four-time Grammy Award winner with over twenty nominations, he is recognized as one of the most influential contemporary jazz musicians.
