About

Langston Hughes II is a Washington, D.C.–born saxophonist, woodwind doubler, composer, and educator, who trained at Howard University under Charlie Young III and Cyrus Chestnut, and is now pursuing a master’s in Jazz Studies at The Juilliard School. He has toured with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, played with Rufus Reid, Jazzmeia Horn, and Orrin Evans, and leads performances at major venues like Blues Alley, The Kennedy Center, and the DC Jazz Festival. Beyond performing, he serves as a woodwind chair in Broadway pits, participates in residencies (Strathmore, Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead), and teaches through outreach programs and masterclasses.
