About
Native New Yorker Mitch Marcus holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Indiana University where he studied with David Baker and Tom Walsh. He founded the Mitch Marcus Quintet in 1999, has lived in San Francisco for a decade before returning to New York in 2009, and has performed in a wide range of ensembles while also serving as accompanist for modern dance companies. His compositional work includes credits for big bands and commissions, and his music spans multiple idioms from progressive jazz to Afro-beat and folk-influenced forms.
