Rick Savage is a New York-based jazz trumpeter, composer, and educator who was educated at Indiana University. He has lived and worked around New York City for decades, recording and performing both straight-ahead jazz and more experimental/free projects. He has contributed music for film (including scoring “A Whole New Day” for Cinemax starring James Gandolfini) and maintains a multimedia production company.

Savage’s style fuses the melodic warmth and lyricism of Miles Davis and Freddie Hubbard with expressive improvisation across jazz, free-jazz, and soul influenced forms. His performances are both technically formidable and emotionally resonant.
