Sylvia Cuenca is a skilled hard-swinging post-bop/hard bop drummer from San Jose, California, now based in New York. She is best known for her extensive 17-year association with trumpet legend Clark Terry and 4-year collaboration with tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson. A semi-finalist in the 1992 Thelonious Monk International Drum Competition, she has performed with numerous jazz luminaries and received NEA grants in 1988 and 1991.
