Overview

Try late-night sessions

Try to attend a late-night session (Thu-Sat) — less formal, cheaper cover, more spontaneous vibe.

Order dinner at doors

Order dinner early; food service begins when doors open (often 6 PM) for the first set so you can eat comfortably between sets.

Student ID saves money

Use student ID — student ticket prices are substantially lower ($15-25) and often have drink minimum waived for those late-night events.

Join Friends of Jazz

Membership (Friends of Jazz, Rhythm Club etc.) gives access to discounted tickets, sometimes waived fees, and members-only pre-sales.

Join the standby list

For sold-out shows, arrive early and ask for the standby list; sometimes they release walk-up or overflow spots.

About

Dizzy’s Club opened in 2004 as part of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall complex, named in honor of trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie. From its inception, it has aimed to capture the intimacy of classic jazz clubs while offering top-tier acoustics and a lineup that alternates between rising stars and established names. Musicians such as Wynton Marsalis and vocal greats have graced its stage, reinforcing its reputation as one of the city’s premium jazz venues. Today, the club seat count is approximately 140, and the room features curved bamboo walls and large windows framing Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. Food is full-service, with a seasonal, soul-food-influenced menu by Great Performances and Spoonbread Inc. The atmosphere balances elegance with approachability—both dressy and relaxed—drawing both jazz lovers seeking serious listening and guests looking for a special evening out. Key features include an intimate 140-seat room with curved bamboo walls and large panoramic windows overlooking Central Park and Columbus Circle, offering a golden acoustic design. The music ranges from trios, pianists, vocalists, small ensembles to occasional big-group sets, with late-night themes like Jam Session, Vocal Jam, and Dance Session. Main sets are held Monday through Saturday at 7 PM and 9 PM, with Sunday sets at 5 PM and 7:30 PM. Late-night sessions occur Thursday through Saturday at around 10:45 PM. The experience is enhanced by first-come seating, with tables that may be shared, and a food/drink minimum per set. Reserved tickets are recommended, though walk-ups are possible via a standby list.
