About

Founded in 1999 by Paul Stache and Frank Christopher, Smoke Jazz Club occupies the space once home to Augie’s Jazz Bar, carrying on decades of jazz tradition. The club has hosted icons like George Coleman and Harold Mabern, and continues to feature top-tier talent including Grammy winners and jazz legends. Following a major expansion in 2022, the club now features a larger, more comfortable listening room while maintaining its signature velvet-draped, candlelit intimacy. The space is designed for optimal sound, with a layout that ensures every seat feels close to the bandstand. The intimate room features dark wood paneling and acoustics designed specifically for jazz performance. Today, Smoke is known for three evening sets most nights, plus an added late-show on Fridays & Saturdays. The audience is a mix of devoted jazz listeners, locals, couples on date nights, and serious fans appreciative of a full dinner and listening experience. The decor includes plush red velvet curtains, antique chandeliers, and a historic full-length bar.
