The Pocket

The Pocket Jazz Club is a recent addition to New York’s jazz circuit, positioned inside The Muse Hotel in Midtown, near Broadway and Times Square. Founded by veterans with backgrounds at Jazz Standard, Crane Club, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the Blue Note, its aim has been to create a listening room with a legacy of quality and intimacy. Today, The Pocket features nightly live jazz performances, usually two sets per night. The room seats about 170 when configured for seated shows and can hold up to 340 for standing events. The layout emphasizes clarity of sound and sight lines—tables, “rail” seating, and VIP options are offered, and from many spots you’re quite close to the performers. The atmosphere is polished but warm—guests tend to include theatergoers, jazz aficionados, and visitors looking for serious music in a relaxed setting. There’s food service, though the focus is on the music and drinks, not a multi-course dining experience.
