Founded in 1993 by siblings Kristina Kossi and Alex Kay, Zinc Bar originally occupied the legendary space of the Cinderella Club on West 3rd Street before moving to its current location. The venue carries a rich legacy, having hosted icons like Thelonious Monk and Billie Holiday in its previous incarnations, and it continues to be a hub for the city's jazz elite and international touring artists. The venue features a long, zinc-topped bar and a plush, velvet-curtained performance space that evokes the glamour of a mid-century jazz lounge. With a capacity of approximately 80 people, the room offers excellent acoustics and an intimate layout where every seat feels connected to the stage. The crowd is a mix of dedicated jazz aficionados, local musicians, and visitors seeking an authentic New York nightlife experience. Expect a diverse mix of straight-ahead jazz, Latin jazz, Brazilian music, and African rhythms. Nightly sets usually start at 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM, with late-night sessions on weekends.
